A brilliantly sunny Saturday, a four hour jaunt through Oak Bay, Port Townsend Bay and Admiralty Inlet, boats, seals, and fun with my sisters – this is the Olympic Peninsula at its best.
We headed out from Port Ludlow Marina, so I indulged myself in snapping boat photos.
Leaving Port Ludlow marina.
Heading north in Port Ludlow Bay, we swung gently by at least two dozen harbor seals.
Not sure what these rocks are called, but Seal Rocks would be appropriate!
Startled harbor seals slid into the water. So here’s a picture of a seal’s fanny.
Ducking under the Marrowstone Island bridge that connects Indian Island and Marrowstone Island and opens up to Port Townsend Bay, there was an emergency call on the radio.
Yup, definitely sinking. Turns out this is a derelict that apparently has been taking on water for several months.
Coast Guard on the way to check things out.
Munitions ship at Indian Island Coast Guard station.
Passing Fort Flagler on the northeast tip of Indian Island.
Full throttle down Admiralty Inlet!
The afternoon turned gray as we headed back to the Port Ludlow Marina. I almost put my camera away, but then saw this osprey (also known as a seahawk) on lookout duty.
A map of our excursions. So much fun!

It was fun! Thanks to my sisters – the one with the boat and the one with the camera, we had a beautiful and memorable day!
Wonderful pictures for a wonderful day!
These are some great pictures. Especially the first one.
