Headed for Port Angeles, and on a whim, turned down Strait View Drive, with Mom as my willing accomplice. I had intended to stop at the Morse Creek trailhead and walk along the Olympic Discovery Trail, but my curiosity got the better of me, so we drove through the neighborhood.

The apples on this tree made me want to stop and take a bite, so it’s a good thing we had snacks in the car and could resist temptation.

I did rather overlook this “Private” sign, but in my defense it was not terribly visible!

The sun, the maple leaves, the color!

More mossy trees … well, it is the Pacific Northwest after all.

The view at the end. Since this is a private neighborhood, I hopped out of the car just long enough to snap a photo. That’s Port Angeles on the left, the McKinley paper plant at the base of Ediz Hook to the left of the freighter, and the Coast Guard and Pilot Station on the right.  What a view!
