After nearly three years, the Jamestown S’Kallam Tribal Library reopened last weekend. While I didn’t have a chance to go to the grand opening ceremony, I did make it out later in the week. The award winning library is open to the public and specializes in materials by and about Native American Indians with a special focus on the people of the Pacific Northwest.
The Port Angeles City Pier is a wonderful place for a stroll, and whenever I have a little bit of time, and the day isn’t too rainy, I love to head in that direction.
Every year, Port Townsend hosts a Victorian Festival. For the Friday kick off, the Jefferson County Historical Society waived admission fees (though my donation was happily accepted) for several of their historical buildings. Grabbing my camera and my sister, we toured the 1868 Rothschild House.
The Port Townsend Aero Museum displays roughly 19 vintage aircraft (dated from the 1920s to the 1940s), all lovingly and beautifully restored and in flying condition. Some of the airplanes are rotated in and out of display, so it's never quite the same from visit to visit.
Heading westward and homeward after leaving my sister's house, I decided to take the scenic route home. What with a warm(ish) and sunny(ish) day, I had tossed my camera in the backseat and thought I'd stop at the Worthington Mansion and Park in Quilcene. Built in 1892, it's the only remaining house of its age and style in rural Jefferson County.
